The Complete Child Care - Level 3 Course is ideal if you wish to enjoy a rewarding career in childcare, or have ambitions to eventually run your own childcare business. As any parent knows, the early years of a child’s life are absolutely crucial in his or her future health and happiness and this informative course covers different aspects of child care and can provide the first step to a highly worthwhile and fulfilling career.
On successful completion of the course you will receive a recognised level 3 award (Comparable to working at A Level or NVQ Level 3).
This course has been written to meet the Every Child Matters Government - www.everychildmatters.gov.uk, and The Early Years Foundation Stage standards.
This course is an ideal introduction to the world of Child Care. However, we must point out the course in itself will not give the qualification you need to work in this sector.
Please be aware that this course provides all the underpinning knowledge to work with children, but you will need a course such as an NVQ level 3 as a minimum to work with children. Nonetheless, this course is ideal if you want a good grounding in the theory of Child Care, prior to, or in conjunction with, hands-on vocational training.
The home study course is split into the following 10 Lessons:
The following topics are covered: The development of children from birth through to sixteen years
The following topics are covered: Family Life and how it has changed; The different styles of parenting; Exploring feelings and emotions; and A guide to social skills and manners.
The following topics are covered: Maintaining safety within the home; Maintaining safety in the garden; Child safety when on the move; and Maintaining appropriate hygiene procedures.
The following topics are covered: Types, signs and symptoms of child abuse; Helping children to protect themselves against abuse; Procedures to follow in cases of child abuse; and Caring for children who have suffered abuse.
The following topics are covered: An overview of the bully; An overview of the victim; Recognising the different types of bullying; Understanding why bullying happens; and Dealing with incidents of bullying.
The following topics are covered: Personal, social and emotional development; Communication, language and literacy development; Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy; Knowledge and understanding of the world; Physical development; and Creative development.
The following topics are covered: The principles of nutrition; The principles of exercise; Meal planning; Allergies and intolerances; and Catering for different diets.
The following topics are covered: Understanding disabilities in children; Definitions of impairment and disability; Inclusion of children with disabilities; Providing play and learning activities for disabled children; and Working with families of disabled children.
The following topics are covered: Exploring children’s rights; Exploring anti-discriminatory practice; and Exploring the effects of discrimination.
The following topics are covered: Exploring the different types of families; Working together to provide for children’s development and well being; and Communication between the childcare practitioner, parents and school.
Course Duration:
Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies. The home study course will take around 100 hours of study to complete.

There are no particular entry requirements.
Technical Support:
Once you have enrolled, you will have access to your own personal tutor by mail or email. You will receive full tutor support for a 12 month period.
Qualification:

The course consists of 10 Units with set assignments to complete. The qualification is gained from your coursework so there is no exam to complete.
On successful completion of this home study course students will be awarded a Level 3 Complete Child Care Award.
This award has been independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and is comparable to working at A Level or NVQ Level 3. |

The award is issued through NCFE. NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
