This course is designed for anyone considering or starting out in a hospitality industry environment. The course aims to develop essential skills for hospitality industry occupations.
The course is designed for study by distance learning at work or at home. Students receive course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail and email.
The course is split into the following 7 Lessons:
- Lesson One - Company & Candidate Information
The following topics are covered: Detailing Company Profile and Organisation, personal Job Description, Curriculum Vitae, Personal Development Plan and Aims and Objectives.
- Lesson Two - Products & Services
The following topics are covered: Understanding how to receive guests, prepare rooms and offer a food and drink service.
- Lesson Three - Customer Types & Requirements
The following topics are covered: The importance of understanding the different types of customers, defining products and services and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Lesson Four - Local Knowledge
The following topics are covered: Outlining details of local and regional transport, places of interest and services.
- Lesson Five - Working within your Organisation
The following topics are covered: Understanding the physical environment, working within a team and Company rules and policies.
- Lesson Six – Health & Hygiene
The following topics are covered: Detailing health matters and essential hygiene knowledge.
- Lesson Seven - Safety & Security
The following topics are covered: Understanding the general safety issues in the workplace, Security implications and legal and statutory requirements.
Pre-Requirements:
There are no particular entry requirements.
Technical Support:
Once you have enrolled, you will have access to your own personal tutor by mail or email. You will receive full tutor support for a 12 month period.
Qualification:
The course consists of 7 modules with set assignments to complete. The qualification is gained from your coursework and there is no exam to complete. On completion of this course students will be awarded with the ASET Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality. This award is at an equivalent to GCSE or NVQ Level 2.
