Qualification:

The course consists of 5 lessons with set assignments to complete. The course is accredited at level 3 by NOCN (15 Credits) and also prepares students for the GOAL Level 3 Children's Care, Learning & Development Examinations. Both qualifications are equivalent to A Level or NVQ Level 3. The NOCN Qualification is included in the overall course fees, but to complete the Goal qualification you would need to sit the examinations at a registered GOAL Centre. Most 6th Form Centres and Colleges are GOAL Centres and to get the qualification you would need to sit 5 mini exams (Approximately £100 in total, but exam fees are at the discretion of the exam centre). The new Government Sure Start Standards require certain occupations [nursery manager / nursery supervisor] to have one of a list of approved qualifications. The GOAL qualification is such a listed qualification and so enables students to complete their Ofsted registration - which they must do before taking up post. For other occupations like nursery assistant the OCN award will be fine.
