The Drug Awareness - Level 2 Course is designed for students who wish to gain an understanding of principles and practice of Drugs awareness. No prior knowledge is required.
The course is designed for study by distance learning at work or at home. Students receive a course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail and email. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to one year from the time of registration.
On successful completion of the course you will receive a recognised level 2 award (Comparable to working at GCSE or NVQ Level 2).
Objectives:
The Objectives of the Course are to gain a better understanding of drugs in society and their use and misuse. The course is particularly suitable for people who may encounter drug related problems and wish to learn how to respond.
The Course Includes the Following 4 Units:-
The following topics are covered: History of drug use; drug terms; differences between depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens and tranquillisers; potential effects that drugs have on individuals; understanding of the law in relation to drugs; effects of drugs in the work place; and statistics relating to drug us.
The following topics are covered: Compare the differences between different types of volatile substances; and understand the potential effects that volatile substances can have on individuals.
The following topics are covered: Understand the different levels of drug dependency; stages of changing behaviour; and methods of harm reduction, including experimental, recreation, dependency, the cycle of change, harm reduction.
The following topics are covered: Understand what types of treatment interventions are available; Identify national contacts which provide advice and information.
Course Duration:
Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies. The course will take approximately 80 hours of study to complete.

There are no particular entry requirements.
Technical Support:
Once you have enrolled, you will have access to your own personal tutor by mail or email. You will receive full tutor support for a 12 month period.
Qualification:

The award is gained from successfully completed coursework so there is no exam to complete.
On successful completion of this course, students will receive a Level 2 Drug Awareness Award.
This award has been independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and is comparable to working at GCSE or NVQ Level 2. |
