The Infection Control – Level 2 Course is supported by the Infection Control Nurses Association (ICNA) and leads to a Level 2 Certificate which will be highly appreciated by employers.

Managing and controlling the risk of infection can be a matter of life or death.

Whether you are an experienced health care worker caring for clients or patients in a work environment or are new to the industry or even simply considering a career in Care, we believe that this learning programme will assist you with your personal development, acquire an understanding around real concerns such as MRSA, and gain invaluable grounding in the general safeguards that can be employed to reduce the risk of infection.

On successful completion of the home study courses students will receive a recognised level 2 award (Comparable to working at GCSE or NVQ Level 2).

The Course covers the following Units:-

  • Unit 1: Infection Control in the Workplace
  • Unit 2: The Importance of Personal Hygiene in the Control of Infection
  • Unit 3: Cleaning Processes to Control Infection
  • Unit 4: Waste Management in the Control of Infection
  • Unit 5: Some Specific Areas of Infection Control

Pre-Requisites:

There are no particular entry requirements.

Course Duration & Support:

You will be provided with comprehensive materials designed to provide you with everything required to complete your course of study. You will have your own dedicated tutor who will guide you through your course work and answer any questions you may have.

Assessment:

You will be assessed on coursework which is detailed in the course materials. There are a series of tutor marked assignments together with an end of course multi-choice questionnaire.

When you have the completed the programme, your allocated personal tutor will be required to verify that you have worked through all parts of the workbook and completed all of the activities and self-assessments successfully.
 
Qualification:
 

The award is gained from successfully completed coursework so there is no exam to complete.

On successful completion of this course, students will receive a Level 2 Award in Infection Control.

This award has been independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 2 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and is comparable to working at GCSE or NVQ Level 2.

 
The award is issued through NCFE. NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.

Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE.
