The Occupational Health & Safety – Level 2 Course is ideal for those who wish to develop knowledge of Health and Safety issues within the workplace and develop knowledge of legislation and regulations relating to a safe and healthy work environment.

Every employee is entitled legally to a healthy and safe work environment. Occupational health and safety refers to the legislation, policies, procedures and activities that aim to protect the health, safety and welfare of all people at the workplace. Every worker has a right to healthy and safe work and to a work environment that enables them to live a socially and economically productive life.

This Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) would suit learners who wish to access this training with a view to progress to further qualifications, or who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes.

The NCFE Occupational Health and Safety programme is suitable for people wishing to develop knowledge to prepare them for employment or for candidates who are already in employment and wish to study the programme as part of their own continuous professional development.

The home study courses lead to a VRQ Level 2 qualification listed on the QCF. VRQs are nationally recognised qualifications which are based on the national framework of qualifications at all levels. Like NVQs they cover the functions of managing activities, people, resources, information, energy and quality.

The Course covers the following Units:-

  • Unit 1: Introduction to the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974)
  • Unit 2: Hazards, risks and risk assessment
  • Unit 3: Electricity, hazardous substances and fire safety
  • Unit 4: Work equipment, personal protective equipment and First aid

Pre-Requisites:

This material is suitable candidates with a basic knowledge of this area, who are interested in improving their understanding of Occupational Health and Safety.

Course Duration & Support:

The assessor/tutor will support the learner throughout the duration of the course. The learner will complete activities and an assignment in order to successfully complete the course. You will receive the course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support.

Assessment:

The NCFE Level 2 Occupational Health and Safety qualification consists of a combination of internally and externally set assignments which are marked by your tutor and are moderated by NCFE.

The certificate is achieved by successfully completing the NCFE candidate workbook in conjunction with the information and exercises provided within our learning materials.
 
Qualification:
 

The award is gained from your coursework so there is no exam to complete.

On successful completion of this course students will be awarded a Level 2 Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.

This qualification has been accredited at level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and is comparable to working at GCSE or NVQ Level 2.
NCFE

The award is issued through NCFE. NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
