The Operations Management - Level 3 Course has been specially written by an experienced tutor and practitioner in the area of Operations Management.
If you want to enter this varied and exciting area of work or want to enhance your knowledge and skills, this is the course for you.
As you will see from the description of the course below, the range of the various components of the study of Operations Management is enormous. We cover it all, so that whatever your next step, you will have a good grounding of the theory involved prior to undertaking on-the-job experience or, if you are already working in a business environment, your expertise will be increased considerably.
What is Operations Management?
Management can be defined as:
The process of designing, creating and maintaining an effective working environment where individuals or groups can work together to achieve their defined aims.
There are a number of key points to management:
-
Managers carry out a vast range of different activities, many of which will likely not be in any job description. They could be responsible for hiring, training and development, health and safety, financial planning, marketing, leadership, planning, project management, discipline etc.
-
Management occurs at all levels within an organisation, and within every organisation.
-
The primary role of most managers is to achieve productivity and quality. This is usually true in any field of endeavour.
This newly developed course will provide you with a broad introduction to these key components of this exciting and challenging field.
As part of your course, you will be supplied with a supplementary Study Guide. This has been written to help you with your studies and to supplement the specific information and guidance given in the course material itself.
On successful completion of the course you will receive a recognised level 3 award (Comparable to working at A Level or NVQ Level 3).
The Course Includes the Following Units:-
Pre-Requirements:
There are no particular entry requirements although students should have a decent level of literacy (up to grade C at GCSE or equivalent). Do bear in mind this is a Level 3 course so the required answers will be exploratory in nature.
Course Duration & Support:
Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies. You also have access to a personal tutor by mail or email for a 12 month period. As the course is self study you can complete in as little or as long a time as you prefer.
Assessment:
You will be assessed on coursework which is detailed in the course materials. Most coursework consists of short paragraph answers to set questions. Your work can be sent back to your course tutor by email or by post.
As well as the tutor-marked assignments, you will also be given a number of self-assessment exercises to go through. The materials and accompanying exercises provided will help you to develop the necessary knowledge and confidence to successfully complete the tutor-marked assignments.
Qualification:
|
The award is gained from your coursework so there is no exam to complete. On successful completion of this home study course students will be awarded a Level 3 Operations Management Certificate Award.
This award has been independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and is comparable to working at A Level or NVQ Level 3. |
|
The award is issued through NCFE. NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
