  • Describe SMTP and the way Exchange Server 2003 uses it for server connectivity.
  • Manage storage, full text indexes, and hardware upgrades.
  • Assign standard and extended permissions, and configure SMTP security, including encryption and digital signing.
  • Plan for, and recover from, disasters by backing up and restoring data.
  • Perform daily, scheduled, and on-demand maintenance tasks.
  • Migrate from Exchange Server 5.5 or Exchange 2000 Server to Exchange Server 2003.

Pre-Requirements:

Students taking this course should be familiar with implementing and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003. You should also be familiar with the use and working of Personal Computers and should ideally be certified to any of the following qualification levels:

  • CompTIA A+ and Network+
  • MCP Exam 70-291

To do the practical elements of this course students would need multiple networked computers. 1 must be running Windows NT 4.0 Server.

The following software packages would be required: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition; Exchange Server 2003 Enterprise Edition; Outlook 2003; Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server & Service Pack 4 or newer; and Exchange Server 5.5 and Service Pack 1 or newer.

Assessment:

Assessment is from the Microsoft 70-284 Examination. Examinations are in a multiple choice/multiple answer format.
