The European Computer Driving Licence is a certificate, which states that the holder has passed one theoretical test, which assesses knowledge of the basic concepts of IT, and six practical tests, which assess the holder’s competence in using a PC.

The ECDL is an internationally accepted document. It can simplify employment procedures and assure the employer that applicants for a position and employees in work are competent in managing computers and using common applications.

Distance Learning Centre’s ECDL Online distance-learning training programme takes the trainee step-by-step through the complete ECDL v4.5 curriculum required to achieve the internationally-recognised European Computer Driving Licence qualification. On completion of each section you can apply and sit for your ECDL test at an appropriate testing centre. The full course consists of seven lessons, each corresponding to the 7 modules and exams featured in the full ECDL curriculum. The exam fees are extra and are paid direct to the ECDL exam centre.

The seven “mini” exams can be sat in one session or individually over a period of time (up to three years to complete) at a cost of approx. £15.00 per exam. The exams are in a multiple choice format and take 45 minutes to complete.

You will also need to be supplied with a log-book from the exam centre for £25.00.
