The Dog Grooming - Level 3 Course is suitable for both beginners and those with an established background with dogs. You don’t need any previous experience - the course is aimed at students who wish to provide quality grooming for their own dogs, as well as those who are thinking of setting up their own grooming business.

The Dog Grooming Course gives you the opportunity to learn in detail about all aspects of grooming dogs. The course includes the history of humankind’s relationship with dogs, in-depth details of the grooming process, as well as helpful advice on how to set up and run your own dog grooming business. Even vets and dog breeders have studied this discipline successfully!

On successful completion of this course students will receive an accredited Level 3 Certificate Award and a Distance Learning Diploma.

Course Objectives:

The course will help you to:

  • Gain a detailed understanding of the relationship between humans and dogs and a working knowledge of the long history of this relationship
  • Gain an in-depth knowledge of a wide range of different breeds of dog and the ability to adapt grooming techniques to suit each breed
  • Acquire the ability to understand that each dog has a unique personality and how to adapt accordingly, so grooming is efficient and hassle-free
  • Gain the ability to groom dogs as quickly as possible whilst showing maximum attention to detail
  • Gain the business skills necessary to help in the setting up of a dog grooming service

This is a theory-based course. If you plan to start your own business you will need to buy the relevant equipment and gain relevant grooming experience.

A perfect way to do this is to ask friends and family and ask if you can groom their dogs for free, or additional practical

Course Duration & Support:

Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies. You also have access to a personal tutor by mail or email for a 12 month period. As the home study courses are self study you can complete in as little or as long a time as you prefer.

Assessment:

You will be assessed on coursework which is detailed in the course materials. Most coursework consists of short paragraph answers to set questions, and a larger essay/case study assignment. Your work can be sent back to your course tutor by email or by post.
 
Certification:

The Certification is gained from your coursework so there is no exam to complete. On successful completion of this course students will be awarded a Dog Grooming Certificate of achievement by NCFE.

This course has been accredited under a NCFE IIQ Licence and the course measurable learning outcomes have been benchmarked at Level 3 (using Ofqual’s Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) level descriptors) to allow you to consider the depth of study, difficulty, and level of achievement involved.
