The Advanced Property Development - Level 4 Course provides the student with a clear and concise understanding of the nature of property development, and teaches what is involved and how to undertake a successful project.

In a highly structured and clear manner, you will gain a wealth of information and learn important skills that are required to prosper in this challenging business area.

The course covers many issues such as Property Development, Health and Safety, Project Management and Construction, which will enable you to tackle large projects and ensure you have the skills to see the development through to the end.

Please Note: This course is a more challenging and in-depth alternative to the Property Development - Level 3 course. The course includes many of the same modules and it is not designed to be a progression from that course.

Unit 1 of this course contains all of the information provided in the Introduction to Property Development - Level 3 Course and the main difference is the coursework required will be more challenging.

On successful completion on this course students will receive an accredited Level 4 Certificate of Achievement.

  • Unit Two – Principles of Project Management

This unit contains the following topics:

What is project management?, History of project management, Organisational structure, Project life cycle, Feasibility studies, Project estimating & scope definition, Project procurement plan, Work breakdown structure, Critical path, Resource planning, Controlling the project, Quality management, Risk management.

  • Unit Three – Construction Materials and Science

This Unit contains the following topics:

Factors that affect human comfort, How forces act on structures, Predicting structural behaviour, Construction materials and their manufacturing techniques, Performance criteria of key materials, Construction materials, Construction materials & techniques used to prevent deterioration.

  • Unit Four – Health and Safety

This Unit contains the following topics:

The responsibilities of employers and employees, Policies, Hazards and risks, Using risk assessment in appropriate formats, Control & monitoring, Movement - Hazards & control, Manual handling, Work equipment, Electrical hazards, Fire hazards, Chemical & biological hazards, Incident & accident investigation and reporting.

Prerequisites:

There are no particular entry requirements.

Course Duration & Support:

Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies. You also have access to a personal tutor by mail or email for a 12 month period. As the course is self study you can complete in as little or as long a time as you prefer.

Assessment:

You will be assessed on coursework which is detailed in the course materials. Most coursework consists of short paragraph answers to set questions. Your work can be sent back to your course tutor by email or by post.

Certification:

At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).

The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards and Certa Awards Quality Licence Scheme. This means that Kendal Publishing has undergone an external quality check to ensure that the organisation and the courses it offers, meet defined quality criteria. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained.
