What is QLS Certification?

QLS stands for the “Quality Licence Scheme” and is a form of Certification offered through The Skills and Education Group. The Skills and Education Group are a charitable organisation that unites education and skills-orientated organisations that share similar values and objectives and they have developed a reputation for providing high-quality qualifications, certification and assessments for the education and skills sectors and also include two nationally recognised awarding organisations;

  • Skills and Education Group Awards
  • Skills and Education Group Access

QLS Certification is an Endorsed Certification of Achievement. As well as offering Ofqual Regulated Qualifications, many Awarding Bodies will also offer “Endorsed Certification” which is a Certificate of Completion for courses that the Awarding Organisation have approved but that doesn’t lead to Ofqual Regulated Units/Qualification. Endorsed Certification is often used when there are no appropriate subjects or units available on the Regulated Qualification Framework.

All Awarding Organisations will use the same Level descriptors for Endorsed Certification to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner and will often have the same features as regulated units and will also provide clear learning outcomes and assessment criteria whilst offering flexibility in teaching methods and evidence. The only difference is that they do not form part of a regulated qualification.
