A Level Courses

The Biology A level Course will teach learners about the study of life: its organisms, its cells, its molecular basis, its history and the ecosystems that it inhabits. The course will examine animals, plants, bacteria and viruses and investigates how genetic information is encoded and passed on, and also explores the application of this knowledge in medicine, agriculture and industry. The Business A level Course will give you a solid grounding in many of the skills required for business life in the rapidly changing world of the new millennium. One of our most popular courses, it assumes no prior knowledge, although it is an advantage to have some background in accounting and mathematics. New topics include the “dot com” phenomenon and how to start a new business.

The Chemistry A Level Course will teach you all about the substances that make up our world, and the reactions that transform them. This course will explore the structure of matter and the chemical reactions that shape the world around us, from the development of medicines to the science behind renewable energy. You will delve into topics such as atomic structure, bonding, thermodynamics, organic chemistry, and electrochemistry, which are essential areas for understanding modern technologies and global challenges. The course also highlights the role of chemistry in advancing sustainable energy and environmental solutions.

The Classical Civilisation A Level Course is a fascinating subject to study and students will learn about the politics, philosophy, and mythology of ancient Greece and Rome. The course cover the stories, ideas, and legacies of the ancient world and you will examine a wide range of topics including Greek democracy, Roman politics, epic poetry, classical philosophy, and ancient art and learners will develop an apprehension of how classical societies continue to shape modern values, governments, and worldviews.

The Economics A Level Course has been developed so students can learn to apply economic theory to support analysis of current economic issues. Students are encouraged to understand the interrelationships between microeconomics and macroeconomics and to help in developing real life skills which are needed to understand and analyse data, and to think critically and to make informed decisions. Students will also develop their quantative skills and learn to evaluate arguments using both qualitative and quantitative data.

The English Language A Level Course introduces advanced language study and develops a students' ability to write for a variety of audiences and purposes. You will discover linguistic frameworks and how these can be used to analyse and interpret language. The course focuses on spoken and written communication, language diversity, and social context. Learners will investigate how language develops in children, how it reflects identity, and how it varies across regions and platforms, from casual texts to formal debate. This course not only deepens understanding of linguistic structures but also develops skills in analysis, interpretation, and independent research.

Taking the English Literature A Level Course is an excellent way to introduce yourself to a wide range of works of drama, poetry and prose. On this AQA syllabus, there are two written papers and two pieces of coursework and the course prepares you thoroughly for all of them. The course is designed to encourage candidates in developing further interest and enjoyment in literary studies by reading widely, critically and independently and to also introduce candidates to the traditions of English Literature.

The French A Level Course will help students develop confident, effective communication skills in French and a thorough understanding of the culture of countries and communities where French is spoken. The course will help students to improve on their existing French skills and build on the essential skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing the French language. Learners will develop advanced reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills while covering topics such as contemporary French society, artistic culture, immigration, politics, and literary texts.

The History A Level Course has been designed to help students understand the significance of historical events, the role of individuals in history and the nature of change over time. This qualification will help students to gain a deeper understanding of the past through political, social, economic and cultural perspectives. The course will build on the understanding of the past taught at GCSE level through a balanced course of study. Learners will cover topics such as the Tudors, revolution and reform, global conflict, and ideologies, exploring how power, belief, and identity have evolved over time and across societies.

The Law A Level Course will give you a thorough understanding of how law is created, administered and changed. A level Politics is a dynamic and relevant subject that explores the systems, ideologies, and institutions that shape our world and helps you develop strong skills in debate, analysis, evaluation, and essay writing.

The Psychology A Level Course will give a fascinating insight into a hugely popular subject.
