Designing and Building a Website

Designing and building a website.jpg

With an abundance of responsive websites available online, you would be excused for taking the design and development of them for granted whilst browsing, as the benchmark for quality is now at an all-time high. If you've ever been interested in how websites are built or have been intrigued enough to start but would like to know more, then Distance Learning Centre can help jump start your career.

We have a range of courses concerned with HTML & CSS programming, JavaScript and Perl, that will give you the tools needed to start building websites. Depending on your level of experience, you may even want to head straight for an advanced course that will ensure you can take on any challenging website build.

HTML & CSS

As the cornerstone of website development, the HTML and CSS web development tools are very important to teach candidates the very basics of programming before they move onto more advanced techniques. We would recommend the Webmaster - HTML and CSS Course that covers topics such as code validation, debugging techniques, incorporating multimedia elements, including special effects and the creation of an online store. The assessment is based on adequate completion of the required coursework.

If on the other hand, a candidate has a basic knowledge of these programming languages and would like to move onto a more advanced course, then the CIW range of web design courses are ideal. The CIW Advanced HTML5 and CSS3 Course is assessed from the ID0-620 examination, and can help create Web pages that easily adapt to tablets, mobile devices, gaming devices, smart TVs and traditional desktop PCs..

JAVASCRIPT

As much as JavaScript can be picked up in some of our bundle courses, it's worth starting out with the basics if candidates feel they would like to start with a good knowledge of the programming language. Our Webmaster - JavaScript Web Design Course is the perfect start to understanding the fundamentals of this object-based language, especially when using it in conjunction with HTML.

Alternatively, the CIW JavaScript Specialist Course will explore how to implement interactive elements into websites with ease, learning how to modify the Document Object Model, control program flow, validate forms and animate images amongst other things. By the end of the year-long course, candidates should be adequately prepared to take the ID0-635 examination.

PERL

Despite being able to start HTML & CSS and JavaScript as a novice, the Perl programming language is recommended as a course that should be undertaken once the basic foundations of web design are in place. The CIW Perl Specialist Course will educate candidates on how to get the most out of this versatile programming language, including modules touching on data types, flow control, arrays & hashes, regular expressions and subroutines. The course will culminate in the candidate taking the ID0-437 examination.

WEB DESIGN BUNDLES

Rather than taking all of these courses separately, candidates have the option to purchase bundles from Distance Learning Centre that will cover a multitude of programming languages. Our highly rated Web Design Professional Bundle includes HTML & CSS Web Design, JavaScript and Responsive Web Design, and will provide candidates with a solid foundation of web design knowledge.
