The PC Technology - Level 3 Online course is is ideal for students who know how to use computers but want to take that next step and learn more about the different components that make up a PC and maybe take their first steps into a career as a PC Technician. The course aims to give the student a good understanding of PC Hardware, the Windows Operating System as well as guidance on maintenance, networking and security issues.

A+ Certification Course

The A+ Certification Course covers the Latest industry standard CompTIA 220-901 and 220-902 Examinations. CompTIA A+ Certification is an ideal starting point for a entry-level PC support technicians and the course covers the maintenance of PCs, mobile devices, laptops, operating systems and printers and validates an understanding of common hardware and software technologies. The course is suitable for those new to the IT industry, or for those who already work as an IT professional and want the CompTIA A+ certification to validates your skills.

The CompTIA A+ 220-901 course materials cover PC hardware and peripherals, mobile device hardware, networking and troubleshooting hardware and network connectivity issues.

CompTIA A+ 220-902 course materials cover installing and configuring operating systems including Windows, iOS, Android, Apple OS X and Linux. It also addresses security, the fundamentals of cloud computing and operational procedures.

On Completion of the A+ Certification Courses, you can apply for your internationally recognised A+ 220-901 and 220-902 Examinations.


There are no particular entry requirements for the home study courses but we advise that all students have a good general knowledge of using PCs, the Windows operating system and Windows-based software.

Course Duration & Support:

Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete your PC Technology Course. You also have access to a personal tutor by mail or email for the 12 month period. The A+ Certification course is designed as a self-study course but if you have any problems you can email our email support. As the home study courses are self study you can complete in as little or as long a time as you prefer, and we do not impose a cut-off date for study.


For the PC Technology Course you are assessed on coursework which is detailed in the course materials. For the A+ Certification Course, assessment is from the A+ Certification 220-901 and 220-902 Examinations. Each examination is 90 minutes in length and has a maximum of 90 questions. The format of the questions are performance-based and multiple choice/answer.

Open Awards LogoOn successful completion of this course students will receive our PC Technology Diploma with comprehensive feedback and providing the assignments have been completed to the required standards students will also receive the Understanding PC Technology Open Awards Level 3 Certificate Award with 8 Open Awards Credits.

Open Award Credits can be accumulated with other course or unit credits over a period of time which can lead to an accredited qualification.

A+ Certification:

CompTIA A CertificationOn completion of the A+ course, you can apply for the Internationally-Recognised CompTIA A+ 220-901 and 220-902 Examinations.

Examinations must be sat at a registered Pearson VUE testing centre and are currently £117.00 + VAT each.
