The Introduction to Search Engine Optimisation Online Course will help students to identify relevant keywords and structure your website and content to present these in the best possible way. You will learn about search engine optimisation techniques that you can implement yourself or use to talk to your website designer in their language to ensure that your website is built or maintained using relevant structure and keywords. The course will give you practical, step by step tips that you can see working in reality. You can see the impact that the correct use of keywords, images and structure have on websites, blog posts, social media profiles and videos. The course will ensure you understand the difference in the keywords you may need to use for your Social Media content so that you target your audience effectively and listen to what they are saying.

Intro to Search Engine Optimisation The course is delivered through the Distance Learning Centre's new on-line training portal, which is accessed via a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. Throughout the course students are supported by a personal course tutor who can give feedback on your work at any time throughout your study.

The Course consists of the following units:-

  • Learning Object 1: Search Engine Optimisation Overview

This unit contains the following topics: What is SEO and why is it important? Looking at different search engines and some high level steps to optimise your website.

  • Learning Object 2: SEO Keywords 

This unit contains the following topics: Selecting the right keywords and how to use these for SEO.

  • Learning Object 3: SEO Link Building 

This unit contains the following topics: An introduction to link building, site speed and best practice SEO.

Prerequisites:

There are no particular entry requirements, although it is recommended that students have a good understanding of using computers.

Course Duration & Support:

Students may register at any time. As this is a short course, the student receives a fully-supported 3 month licence period and any support is delivered via email. As the course is self-study, you can complete in as little or as long a time as you prefer within the 3 month licence period.

Assessment:

As this is a short unaccredited online course there are no student assignments although there are exercises for the student to complete as they progress.

Certification:

This course is designed for personal development and is not externally accredited. Students can request a Certificate of Completion after successfully completing all course learning objects.
