The Equality & Diversity – Level 2 Certificate (RQF) Course is for students who are wanting to improve their understanding of Equality and Diversity and gain a full RQF listed qualification.

The course is designed to give staff members or those interested in working in this area, an overview of the issues surrounding stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination. The course will also help students to identify the basic rights that all people should enjoy and the shared values people have, and to examine the responsibility that each person and organisation has in ensuring that obstacles to participation in society are removed. Students will look at the various laws (legislation) which affect equality and diversity, and how organisations have to take them into account.

The objectives of this course are to help learners to raise their awareness of the issues surrounding equality and diversity and demonstrate this awareness through their actions in the workplace.

This course can be used to complement practical work, giving students the theoretical knowledge required. This qualification is suitable for both young (pre-16) and adult learners, including those in current employment or those seeking employment. It is also ideal for those who need to gain an awareness of issues surrounding equality and diversity, for example as part of a work-place induction programme or for personal development.

On successful completion of this course students will receive a Level 2 RQF Certificate Qualification with 18 credits from NCFE.

The Equality & Diversity – Level 2 Certificate (RQF) Course Includes the Following Units:
By the end of this unit you will: Understand what equality means; Understand the ways in which people might choose to describe themselves; Understand what diversity means; Understand stereotyping and labelling and their effects; and Understand prejudice and discrimination and their effects.
By the end of this unit you will: Understand the meaning of equality and diversity in places of work; Understand how people's rights are protected in places of work; Know how organisations promote equality and diversity in the place of work; Understand the meaning and coverage of the Human Rights Act (1998) and Know how to access support and information on people's rights.
By the end of this unit you will be able to: Understand how the place of work tries to create a diverse working environment; Understand how the place of work maintains and monitors equality and diversity; and Understand the value to the organisation in creating and maintaining a diverse environment.
Prerequisites

There are no particular entry requirements for this course.

Students can enrol providing they are comfortable studying at a Level 2 standard.

Course Duration & Online Support

You can start this course at any time, and you would be registered for a one-year period. You also have access to a personal tutor who can be contacted through the online portal or by email. Your tutor is available to assist with any queries and to mark your assignments for the Awarding Organisation.

As the course is self-study, you can complete it as quickly as you like. Support extensions are available if students do not complete the course within the one-year period.

Course Format & Delivery

You will receive access to the course materials through an online portal for a 12-month period. Students can use the portal for accessing their course materials, submitting assignments and to log tutor questions. 

Please Note: An optional hard-copy version of the course notes can be purchased for an additional £48.00. This is useful for learners who also want to study away from the computer and means they have course notes they can keep and refer back to beyond their online course license.

Delivery of the hard-copy materials is usually within 5 to 10 working days by a recorded delivery service.

Assessment

Students will be required to complete a number of assignments. Your personal tutor will review, mark and provide you with feedback on your work. Coursework assignments can be returned by uploading to the online portal, by email or by post.

We recommend that assignments are completed and returned as word-processed documents through the online portal. Handwritten documents can be accepted but need to be clear and legible and may be subject to a longer marking time.

NCFE Equality & Diversity Qualification

NCFEOn successful completion of this course students will receive an Equality & Diversity Level 2 Certificate Qualification issued by NCFE.

This qualification has been accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (Ofqual Qualification No. 601/3145/7) and has 18 Credits.

NCFE is recognised as an Awarding Organisation by the qualification regulators for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who are: the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Welsh Government, and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland. NCFE accreditation gives assurance that the content of a training course is of a high standard and meets the rigorous requirements of a national awarding organisation. This course provides successful students with a qualification listed on the Regulated Qualifications Framework, accredited by NCFE at level 3 and is assessed through NCC, a licensed NCFE centre. Accreditation by NCFE is a guarantee of quality. It means that this learning programme has been scrutinised and approved by an independent panel of experienced educational professionals and is quality audited biannually by NCFE.
